WINCHESTER HOUSE WEDDING

Gemma and Justin got married in early May at the newly refurbished Winchester House in Putney. With it’s private garden over looking the River Thames it was the perfect location for the keen rowers.

Gemma was keen to keep the flowers simple and unstructured and to use as many fragrant and seasonal flowers as possible. She wanted the flowers to make a difference to the venue without being too over the top and most of all to smell amazing. Her bridesmaids were wearing blue so she was keen to incorporate blue in to the flowers. Blue is usually such a difficult colour for flowers but being May I was able to use lots of lovely blue bee delphiniums, veronica and nigella.

She wanted to avoid roses and flowers that were too formal so I created bouquets of fragrant freesias, sweet peas, stocks, mint and rosemary mixed with blue veronica, nigella and delphinium. Justin was wearing a kilt so thistle was also added to the bouquets and of course the buttonholes.

Gemma wanted her friends and family to enjoy the flowers after the wedding so she bought white jugs from Ikea for the tables, which I filled with more fragrant flowers and herbs. For the ceremony these were dotted around the room on the windowsills in the lovely light filled room and then moved to the tables for the wedding breakfast.

The lovely Louise Wedding Photography captured everything beautifully and after the wedding I received the most gorgeous thank you card from Gemma and Justin.

“I wanted to say a big thank you for the wonderful flowers on our wedding day. They were exactly as I had hoped for and the bouquets smelt wonderful. Our family said the flowers lasted for ages afterwards and gave lots more enjoyment”

It really was such a lovely wedding to work on and as a recommended supplier at Winchester House I am look forward to a busy summer there next year.
